Cerebellum Lobe

The cerebellum, also known as the “little brain”, is located in the back of the skull, beneath all the other lobes. The cerebellum has many functions.

One of the central functions is the role it plays in motor control. Although the cerebellum does not initiate movements, it is important for coordination, precision and timing of movements. The cerebellum uses information it receives from sensory systems, such as visual or auditory information. People with damage to the cerebellum has been found to have damage to motor learning, and fine movements.

The cerebellum has been found to not only be important for movements, but also attention, language and emotional control.
