Parietal Lobe

The parietal lobe is vital in how we understand the world we live in. It is the receiver of all the sensory inputs to us. It is literally responsible for the way we view the world, since it is responsible for information transferal of to other parts of the brain so we can process what we see, hear, fell, taste and smell and associates.

Our spatial abilities also arise from the parietal lobe; how we visualize objects from different perspectives. We need our spatial abilities navigation, understanding or fixing equipment, estimating distance, and succeeding in sports. Not only do spatial abilities involve understanding the outside world, but they also involve processing outside information and reasoning with it through our representation in the mind.

Ever wondered how you can be aware of the position and movement of body parts in relation to muscles and joints? Body awareness: how conscious and connected you are to your body, is also located in the parietal lobe.
